This document contains information on accessibility modifications for the labs in the ITE curriculum. You must complete *all* labs unless this document advises you not to for accessibility reasons.
Module 1
Module 2
- For Lab 2.3.4 you can use either of the two assembly/disassembly recordings found under student resources, IT Essentials 1, audio lab recordings. You are also welcome to work on a computer of your own. If you would like to work with actual hardware, and do not have any of your own ask your instructor for ideas.
Module 3 labs
- Use the same lab recording you used in lab 2.3.4 for module three labs up until 3.9.2. As with 2.3.4 you are welcome to use your own hardware for these labs.
- Use the exploring the BIOS recording for lab 3.9.2.
Module 4
Module 5
- 5.4.8 If you are a screen reader user you do not have to complete the checklist of visual Direct X tests. The registry portion of this lab is optional.
- 5.5.3 You do not need to do anything involving the performance monitor. Complete all of the rest of the steps that do not refer to performance monitor. If you have trouble finding the events in the event log, ask your instructor for assistance.
- 5.5.4 Install or uninstall any program you like. For free programs to use visit the extras area of the cucat site which is located under student resources.
- 5.6.2 Instead of installing IAS, try changing your sound scheme.

Module 8
- 8.9.2 Remember that most computers are configured for DHCP, so it is normal to have just blank spots for the first part of this lab. The telnet portion of this lab is not required because; we do not have a server for you to work on due to security risks.
- 8.12.2 If you are not present on the day that students do this activity in class, write down three additional questions you would ask the customer and an educated guess as to what the solution to the problem might be.
Module 9
- 9.5.3 If you are not present on the day that students do this activity in class, write down three additional questions you would ask the customer and an educated guess as to what the solution to the problem might be.
Module 10
Module 11
- 11.1 This lab is literally the same lab as 1.1.2. You do not need to submit more jobs unless you want more feedback on research skills.
- 11.2.2 Part one is not doable at this time. For part two use the cable testing recording in the audio labs folder. Write a paragraph about how to test a UTP cable.
- 11.4.3 and 11.4.4 You do not need to actually physically install things for these labs. Instead find out the information for your existing components.
- 11.4.4 To find out your BIOS version try using a program such as Belarc advisor which is accessible and free for non-commercial use. You may need to Google up what key accesses your BIOS.
- 11.4.5 You do not need to install a hard drive to answer this lab. Where do you think the option might live? If you get stuck, Google, or listen to the explore the BIOS recording.
- 11.6.3 Repairing boot problem If you are not present on the day that students do this activity in class, write down three additional questions you would ask the customer and an educated guess as to what the solution to the problem might be.
- 11.6.3 Troubleshooting hardware problems. We aren’t there to break your computer so you cannot complete this lab.
Module 12
- 12.2.4 You must do the lab up to where it says step 3. Everything from this point onward in part 4 is optional. If you do want to try it, have a copy of NVDA installed and use it for section four. Section 5 is not doable for screen reader users.
Module 13
- All labs are accessible. Hint: use the same repair centre you used in 13.1 for 13.5.3 support and repair.
Module 14
- No labs required for this module. Proceed to Module 15.
Module 15
- 15.4.2 You may need to Google to find out what the sharing icon is.
- 15.5.2 You can do this with your home router. No need to change your IP information to static though. The rest of the lab is non-destructive and doable though.
